I was reading Haggai last week. This verse and commentary from J. Vernan McGee hit hard. ” Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.” Haggai 1:8.
The people had returned from Babylon, and work on rebuilding the temple had stalled. McGee’s point was that this simple command was a wake-up, a jolt. Hey! Go to the mountain, get the wood, and build. Get to work! They heard it and they did.
How many things that we should be doing for God have been put on the back burner? How far are we behind? I took this verse to mean that now that my book “What Does the Bible Say? Q&A about God for Skeptics and Nonbelievers” is published, I need to get busy with the evangelism part. So here I am. I’m finished fixin’ to get ready to start, as they say. My intention is to regularly update this blog with thoughts and questions that arise in my studies and work to spread the Gospel. My plan also includes posts on X, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
