Explain – Grace

Grace

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,” (Ephesians 2:8 ESV)

Strong’s dictionary of Hebrew and Greek words defines grace as: favor, bestow, give, grant, bestow, merciful, kindness, precious, favor, divine influence upon the heart.

Someone once said, “Grace is getting what you don’t deserve, and mercy is not getting what you do.”

Grace is sublime and beautiful. It is an undeserved gift.

God’s grace is His freely given love.

The Bible tells us to love one another.

“Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.”  (1John 4:11  WEB)

When we give someone grace, we are loving them. We are giving them kindness. We overlook, forgive, help, or preserve.

Be kind. If you know something, you know. You don’t always have to make sure others know you know.

“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.” (1 Peter 3:8 ESV)

“… Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” (1 Peter 5:5 ESV referencing Proverbs 3:34)

Dear God,

You made us, and you love us. So much that you sent Jesus to pay for our sins so that, if we believe in him and follow him, we can live with you forever.

Thank you for your example of grace. Please help me to share a similar grace with those around me.

Amen
